Top Hindu Wedding Venues in Hampshire

Hampshire has some of the best country house and resort venues in the South of England for a Hindu wedding. Many are less than an hour from London and Heathrow, set in generous grounds, and large enough for a multi-day celebration with family travelling from across the UK and abroad.

As Hindu wedding photographers and videographers based in London, we have photographed weddings at venues across Hampshire and the Hampshire and Surrey border. This guide covers the ones we know well, what we like about each from a photography point of view, and what to check before you book.

What to Look for in a Hindu Wedding Venue

A Hindu wedding needs more from a venue than a standard wedding day. Before you fall in love with the setting, check the practical points.

  • A space for the mandap. The ceremony room needs height, room for the family and clear sightlines for guests.

  • Rules on the havan. Many venues have specific requirements for a sacred fire. Ask early and get it in writing.

  • A place for the baraat. You will want outdoor space, or a covered area, for the groom's procession, dhol and dancing.

  • Room for your guest list. Indian weddings are often large, so check ceremony, dinner and evening capacity.

  • Dry hire and catering. If you want halal, vegetarian or Asian catering, check whether the venue offers dry hire or approved caterers.

  • Flexible timings. Check finishing times, music licences and how the venue handles a ceremony that runs long.

  • Accommodation on site. Many couples have guests travelling a long way, so rooms at the venue help.

  • Good natural light. Large windows, gardens and terraces give us far more to work with for portraits.

Froyle Park, Alton

Froyle Park is a Jacobean manor house set in around 80 acres of parkland on the Hampshire and Surrey border, about an hour from London. It is an exclusive-use venue, which means your family has the whole estate to yourselves. We are a recommended photography and videography supplier at Froyle Park.

Guest capacity: up to 300 guests for the ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception. The outdoor ceremony dome seats up to around 240, and there is on-site accommodation for around 66 guests.

Why couples choose it: a grand house and grounds with plenty of variety for portraits, space for large families and the privacy of exclusive use.

Good to know: ask about the havan, the baraat route and wet-weather options. Read our venue guide for Froyle Park.

Why couples choose it: a large-capacity pavilion for the reception, a Georgian house and gardens for portraits and rooms for family to stay close by.

Old Thorns Hotel & Resort, Liphook

Old Thorns is a large hotel and resort in the Hampshire countryside, close to the South Downs. It is one of the biggest venues in the area, with several ballrooms, a walled garden and a chapel, and it is set up for Asian weddings and dry hire. The venue lists Hindu fire ceremonies as permitted. We are a recommended photography and videography supplier at Old Thorns.

Guest capacity: the Grand Ballroom takes up to around 800 guests for a ceremony and around 500 for the meal and evening. The Gatsby Ballroom suits ceremonies of up to around 500, and the Walled Garden up to around 150 for an outdoor ceremony. There are around 150 en-suite bedrooms plus self-catering apartments.

Why couples choose it: the scale for very large weddings, accommodation for many guests on site and several spaces to spread events across a weekend.

Good to know: with so many rooms, agree early which space is used for each event and allow time to move between them. See all the venues we photograph.

Northbrook Park, Farnham

Northbrook Park is an 18th-century manor house on the Hampshire and Surrey border, near Farnham. The Orangery, with its glass roof, and the walled gardens give lots of options for photography, and the estate has a relaxed, country feel.

Guest capacity: ceremonies, breakfasts and receptions for up to around 250 guests. There is accommodation available on the estate for family and friends.

Why couples choose it: a manor house setting, light-filled spaces and a more intimate scale than the larger resorts.

Good to know: check which rooms suit your ceremony and how the havan can be arranged. Read our venue guide for Northbrook Park.

Questions to Ask Every Venue

  • Can we have a sacred fire (havan) for the ceremony, and where?

  • Where can the baraat take place, and is there a wet-weather option?

  • How many guests can the ceremony space and the reception space hold?

  • What are the finishing time and music restrictions?

  • Do you offer dry hire, and are outside caterers, decorators and dhol players allowed?

  • Can we access the venue early for set-up and photographs?

  • How many bedrooms are available, and what rates apply for guests?

Photography Tips for Hindu Weddings in Hampshire

  • Visit at the right time of day. The light in a room changes a lot between morning and afternoon, so see the ceremony space when it will be used.

  • Use the grounds. Hampshire venues have beautiful parkland and gardens, so plan time for portraits in good light.

  • Allow time to move between spaces. Country houses and resorts can be spread out, so build the walking time into your timeline.

  • Share your venue plans with your photographer. We are happy to talk through the layout and suggest where the mandap, family photographs and portraits will work best.

  • Plan for weather. Even in summer, have a wet-weather plan for the baraat and portraits.
