Top Hindu Wedding Venues in Hertfordshire

Hertfordshire is one of the best counties in the UK for a Hindu wedding. It is close to London and Heathrow, easy for guests to reach, and full of country houses, manor hotels and estates with the space a multi-day Indian celebration needs.

As Hindu wedding photographers and videographers based in London, we have photographed weddings at many Hertfordshire venues. This guide covers the ones we know well, what we like about each from a photography point of view, and what to check before you book.

What to Look for in a Hindu Wedding Venue

A Hindu wedding is not a standard wedding day. Before you fall in love with a venue, make sure it works for the ceremony as well as the photographs.

  • A space for the mandap. The ceremony room needs height, room for the family and clear sightlines for guests.

  • Rules on the havan. Many venues have specific requirements for a sacred fire. Ask early.

  • A place for the baraat. You will want outdoor space, or a covered area, for the groom's procession, dhol and dancing.

  • Room for your guest list. Indian weddings are often large, so check both the ceremony and reception capacity.

  • Flexible timings. Check finishing times, music licences and how the venue handles a ceremony that runs long.

  • Good natural light. Large windows, gardens and terraces give us far more to work with for portraits.

  • Accommodation nearby. Many couples have guests travelling from abroad, so rooms on site or close by help.

Offley Place, Great Offley

Offley Place is one of our favourite venues in Hertfordshire. The grounds are beautiful, and the light that comes into the ballroom suits a Hindu ceremony and reception very well. Offley Place lists Dino Jeram Photography & Videography as a recommended supplier, and we have photographed many Hindu weddings and receptions there.

Guest capacity: ceremonies for up to 300 guests for religious weddings, around 250 for a seated dinner and up to 300 standing. There are 16 bedrooms on site, and the smaller Conservatory suits intimate gatherings of around 80 guests.

Why couples choose it: an elegant country house setting, a ballroom that works for the mandap and the reception, and gardens for portraits.

Good to know: speak to the venue early about ceremony layout and timings. Read our venue guide for Offley Place.

North Mymms Park, near Hatfield

North Mymms Park is a historic country house set in extensive grounds. Its architecture and gardens give us plenty of variety for couple portraits, from the grand exterior to quieter corners of the estate. We are also a recommended supplier at North Mymms Park.

Guest capacity: ceremonies for up to 250 guests, with the contemporary glass Pavilion hosting up to 400 for a reception. There are 27 bedrooms on site.

Why couples choose it: a country house backdrop, space for large celebrations and a setting that feels special for family photographs.

Good to know: confirm ceremony space, baraat arrangements and any restrictions on the havan. Read our venue guide for North Mymms Park.

Moor Park Mansion, Rickmansworth

Moor Park Mansion is a Palladian-style mansion on the edge of Hertfordshire, close to London. The grand rooms and formal setting suit couples who want a classic, elegant look for a Hindu wedding and reception.

Guest capacity: ceremonies for around 94 guests in the Thornhill Room or 132 in the Orangery, a seated wedding breakfast for up to 132 in the Main Dining Room and up to 250 guests for the evening. Check nearby accommodation for out-of-town guests.

Why couples choose it: impressive interiors, a formal setting and easy access from London.

Good to know: ask how the main rooms are laid out for ceremony and reception, and which areas are available for portraits. Read our venue guide for Moor Park Mansion.

Shendish Manor, Hemel Hempstead

Shendish Manor combines a manor house with gardens and character spaces that photograph beautifully, including a stone pavilion, climbing ivy and leafy planting. In autumn, the colours are especially good for portraits.

Guest capacity: the Manor House hosts around 96 guests for the day and 160 in the evening, while the contemporary Apsley Suite seats up to around 320 for a banquet and up to 400 for a ceremony. There are around 70 bedrooms on site.

Why couples choose it: a variety of backdrops in one place, from architecture to gardens.

Good to know: check which spaces are available for the ceremony and which for the reception. Read our venue guide for Shendish Manor.

Hunton Park Hotel, Abbots Langley

Hunton Park is a country house hotel with grounds and a relaxed setting, and having accommodation on site is helpful for a Hindu wedding with guests travelling in.

Guest capacity: ceremonies for up to 175 guests, a wedding breakfast for around 150 in the Terrace Marquee and up to 250 for the evening. There are around 70 bedrooms across the mansion and main hotel. For a larger celebration, ask about marquee options.

Why couples choose it: a hotel and venue in one, with space for family to stay close to the celebrations.

Good to know: ask about ceremony room options and timings. Read our venue guide for Hunton Park.

The Grove, near Watford

The Grove is a large luxury hotel estate close to London. It suits couples planning a multi-day celebration who want accommodation, spaces for several events and a polished setting.

Why couples choose it: scale, facilities and a setting that works for several events.

Good to know: because it is a large site, plan the movement between spaces carefully in your timeline. Read our venue guide for The Grove.

Oshwal Centre, Potters Bar

The Oshwal Centre is a community venue with a strong tradition of hosting Indian weddings and cultural celebrations. It is a practical choice for larger guest lists and a ceremony that follows family tradition closely.

Guest capacity: two large halls, each taking up to 500 guests, with one commonly used for the ceremony and the lower ground hall for the banquet. The smaller Oshwal House suits family events of around 100 seated.

Why couples choose it: space, experience with Indian weddings and a setting that works for large families.

Good to know: ask about the available rooms and any house rules for the ceremony. Read our venue guide for the Oshwal Centre.

Listed capacities vary, so confirm ceremony and evening numbers with the venue. There are up to around 50 bedrooms on site.

Why couples choose it: the privacy of exclusive use, extensive grounds for portraits and Asian catering options.

Micklefield Hall, near Rickmansworth

Micklefield Hall is a family-run country venue set within around 350 acres of Hertfordshire countryside near Rickmansworth. A restored barn, landscaped gardens and several licensed ceremony spaces, indoors and outdoors, make it a relaxed setting for a Hindu wedding with a rustic, garden feel.

Guest capacity: up to around 200 guests for a ceremony and dinner. A recent listing gives around 120 seated in the barn with up to 80 more in the evening, so confirm the layout for your guest list. There are around six bedrooms on site, and ceremonial fire is listed as permitted.

Why couples choose it: exclusive use, beautiful gardens for portraits and an approved caterer list that includes Asian catering.

Good to know: you must use one of the venue's approved caterers, so check that your preferred menu works before you book. See all the venues we photograph.

Ashridge House, Berkhamsted

Ashridge House is a grand historic house set in its own heritage landscape near Berkhamsted, within easy reach of London. It has a choice of heritage rooms and garden spaces for ceremonies, drinks receptions and evening celebrations.

Questions to Ask Every Venue

  • Can we have a sacred fire (havan) for the ceremony, and where?

  • Where can the baraat take place, and is there a wet-weather option?

  • How many guests can the ceremony space and the reception space hold?

  • What are the finishing time and music restrictions?

  • Are outside suppliers, such as decorators, caterers and dhol players, allowed?

  • Can we access the venue early for set-up and photographs?

  • What accommodation is available for the couple and family?

Photography Tips for Hindu Weddings in Hertfordshire

  • Visit at the right time of day. The light in a room changes a lot between morning and afternoon, so see the ceremony space when it will be used.

  • Use the gardens. Many Hertfordshire venues have beautiful grounds, so plan time for portraits in good light.

  • Allow time to move between spaces. Country houses can be spread out, so build the walking time into your timeline.

  • Share your venue plans with your photographer. We are happy to talk through the layout and suggest where the mandap, family photographs and portraits will work best.

  • Plan for weather. Even in summer, have a wet-weather plan for the baraat and portraits.
